Sleepbox
If you’ve ever had to take a long flight in another time zone with a hefty layover, looking for a place to drift off at an uncomfortable airport is completely natural. Russian architects Alexey Goryainov & Mikhail Krymov designed a solution for such occasions and they call it SLEEPBOX.
Although I’ve already seen a similar idea from Japan, the SB execution is quite innovative and the idea of taking a quick nap, working or just chillaxing in public, yet privately, sounds like a luxury many people would pay for. Check out the Sleepbox video featuring not so sleepy grammy winner Skrillex.
The Sleepbox is soundproof, has two large windows, is ventilated, has an auto bed linen changer, wifi, and an LCD TV.
Prefab In The Bloodwoods Of Seventeen Seventy
Designed by Simon Laws of Anthill Constructions, built in Brisbane and transported to the town of Seventeen Seventy, the Drew house was built for a family who wanted an exceptional weekend getaway in the Bloodwoods. This pre-fabulous dream has sleeping pods, a bath house and resembles a jet wing just for fun? It’s rustic modern at its best.
Rockstar Bathroom By Hurricane Urquiola
The second weekend of the biggest music event in Coachella, California begins today and even though it’s mostly for the young ones who can brave the elements, I had a smashing good time last year. Instead of prancing in the desert, I bring you a post about a rockstar designer who creates ethereal bathrooms for probably rockstars and the like.
Patricia Urquiola aka ‘Uragano Urquiola’, (Hurricane Urquiola) by the Italian press, because of the speed in which she established herself in the male dominated design product industry. Patricia sees the bathroom as a conversation about intimacy – a place to awaken the senses.

In Awe Of Gabriel Dawe
Born in Mexico City, mixed media artist Gabriel Dawe was not allowed to work with textiles or embroidery as a little boy because of the machismo in his culture. Thankfully, his suppressed interest blossomed into some amazing installations made with ordinary sewing thread. Gabriel’s work is being showcased internationally and the next installation “The Density of Light” will be shown at Lot 10 Galerie in Brussels from April 12 to June 9.
Here’s what Gabriel had to say about his latest show. Very early on in the series, the idea of light became an intrinsic part of these installations. Because I use regular sewing thread on an architectural scale, the structures created are ethereal and diaphanous. I think of them as existing in a space between the material and the immaterial; or like some sort of alchemical experiment where I attempt to materialize light.
It’s A Spa. It’s A House.
After unwinding all weekend at a special oasis in Desert Hot Springs, CA, shifting into work mode can be challenging. Soaking and swimming in luscious, hot mineral waters is one of my favorite things in the world and to extend the good vibes, I’m posting a dream house for your viewing pleasure.
Metropolis Design designed a visually stunning home, combined it with a spa and called it Spa House. Located in Hout Bay, a coastal suburb of Cape Town, South Africa, the house features an immaculate living area along with spa delights like an underwater viewing room of the infinity pool, overlooking spectacular mountain views, a salt bath, steam and massage rooms. They had me at spa.
